It's funny you should say that, right after Irene I noticed the leaves on the trees just looked "weird". Many of them looked faded and droopy and just never recovered. I thought it was damage from the high winds, the salt factor never even occurred to me.

Definitely try going towards Pomfret- the ride itself is wonderful, even if it is a bit longer than you'd planned for. Otherwise, Voluntown and Ekonk Hill is really nice and there's a wonderful small farm up there with delicious pies.

Yup..and until Im proven wrong I still say the leaves were "somewhat" affected by radiation from the Japan Nuclear catastrophy. Traces were found in rain water here in U.S including in Boston. Doesnt take much for radiation to get into air and clouds then move along and fall with rain.

I was working in Trumbull today and driving back to Westchester from there on the Merritt Pkwy I noticed exactly what you're saying about the fall color. It sucks.....
