Next time you're up that way, try Xpects in Bethel. Not the prettiest of shops, hardly any checkout staff, but if you can suffer that, definitely the cheapest shop around. Their fresh produce is reasonable and they stock a lot of ethnic foods/spices. Big Y I think, can be overpriced for a lot of their things, as can Caraluzzis. Having said that, I usually wait until whatever's on special, is on special, and buy more than I would normally and freeze it. I've found, since moving here, that groceries and weekly shopping is much more expensive than it was back home, and because of that, I've turned into a coupon freak

Xpect in Danbury (near the Bethel border) is pretty gross IMO. It's just a dirty store. I'm sure it's cheap, but I couldn't get past the lack of cleanliness.

Is Aldi open in Danbury yet?

I agree. Jay - Dawn (DandJ) introduced "bully sticks" to me, and my dog LOVES them. They are more expensive, and stink a little, but much, much safer than rawhides.

Have you been to the one in Milford?

I think Xpect is going to be leaving the state anyway. The one in Derby is closing in about a month.

I've been to the Milford and West Haven Aldi's and found them to be relatively clean. I guess they should be, considering that Aldi doesn't lease existing structures. They build new stores to their specs.
