Hi my job is in simsbury. I have been looking at Manchester, Vernon & Glastonbury. Would like to know of the commute times from these cities & some good apartments.
I have a friend who commutes from Longmeadow, MA/Enfield, CT (they own property that is right on the border) to Vernon, CT and it takes her about 45 minutes or so? Most of the traffic she hits is on I-91, where a lot of people are commuting into Hartford. Once she connects from I-91 to 291 to 84, she's sailing since it's a reverse commute from there.
FWIW, Google's "Traffic Estimator" tool shows a 33-41 minute commute when using Monday mornings at 8am as the reference point. See Link.
Honestly, you may want to consider other options. Those are decent places to live, but to commute could be a hastle. The problem is Simsbury is in an area without highway access, and those towns are east of the river and can be a good 45-minute drive with traffic one way. If your budget allows it, consider Bloomfield, Windsor or even Simsbury itself - there's a few apartments on Hopmeadow Street.
Winter driving to Simsbury can be hazardous. You have to climb hills that are close to 1,000 feet to get there. With snow and ice it could be a nightmare.
I would consider living over there if you can pay a little more for an apartment and the schools are better too.
schools in Simsbury are very highly rated. Bloomfield and Windsor schools are rated very low.
