Had two packages stolen off my front porch today. I know it's not physical violence, so "unsafe" isn't exactly the right way to put how I feel, but to have items stolen from right in front of my door while my husband and I were both home is kind of concerning. (Before anyone asks, I saw the two boxes when coming in from a walk, went upstairs to put the kids in the bath, went an hour later to get the mail and they were gone).

Anyone hear anything about crime in Stratford lately?

They were probably stolen but, did you double check with the post office that the mailman didn't have 2nd thoughts about leaving it, and decided to bring them back to the office?

It was through UPS - saw them at 6pm, they were gone at 7pm. UPS has them marked as delivered :/

It's been a problem in many towns. That really sucks - hopefully it wasn't anything valuable.

Something tells me the punks were from Stratford's neighbor to the west...

Ah, gotcha. I assumed you meant the post office delivered it since you mentioned retrieving the mail.

Its unfortunate that these type of things happen, and they can happen anywhere, even in towns you'd least expect it. Was it anything majorly valuable? My recommendation for the future would be track orders and when you know of generally what day it comes in have someone in your family or a neighbor keep an eye for it and when delievered have them place it inside.

Gifts for my 3 year old and 3 month old. Hope the thief enjoys size 9mo onesies and dinosaur figurines.

I was thinking it might be more likely here because homes are close together and plenty of people walk down the sidewalks (so they pass by homes and see things). We're thinking of moving to Monroe (for other reasons) and I hope that the wider home spacing means this kind of stuff is less common!

I remember there being a well publicized story of package thefts this past X-mas on the Fairfield/Bridgeport border. It pains me to say it, but honestly, i don't think the thief was someone from the "neighborhood to the west". Lintu isn't near the border and her area is probably an unknown for many of those "punks".

If you want to be certain that a package is never stolen, you can request that your sender require a signature for the package to be released.
