What's downtown area? SoNo's Washington St. is really nice but that other "downtown-ish" area east of the hospital is pretty dumpy. I really don't like that area.

You might've liked that Westport apartment in walking distance to the train.

Going by your previous posts, I don't think you will like Norwalk. At all.

Even though I'm perfectly okay with living in Bristol, Middletown or Manchester?

Nep, I specifically remember you complaining about the "element" in Middletown, and in Vernon. Well guess what? That "element" is alive and well in Norwalk, even to a somewhat larger degree. Lots of Norwalk is also pretty rundown.

Trust me. You won't like it.

Nep, don't compare Hartford suburbs with Norwalk. They're nothing alike. That's not to say Norwalk is better or worse, it's just completely different. Go spend a day there and report back.

And you're not going to like them either! I can't think of any apartment building that you will like in Stamford if you want something that isn't in a busy/noisy location. The only thing that will work for YOU in Stamford is a condo or an apartment in a multi-family.

So today I just got back from looking at several apartments in Stamford and Norwalk. I was working with two agents, essentially. I have to say, I am basically priced out of Stamford. The agents said that this is the time of year when prices are extra high. Right now, a decent 1 br goes for $1,700 in Stamford. Plus, I really can't picture myself living there at all. It's way too dense, urban and skyscraper-like. And I hate the idea of living in a 1 square mile bubble every day.

On the other hand, I saw a few units in Norwalk and they were very impressive, for a couple hundred less than Stamford. I could picture myself living in them for sure. And the general areas were not glamorous by any means, but not bad at all. I would say it was like Manchester/Bristol. Not fancy, but doable. One of the complexes was very clean, simple and had quite a few young professionals.

Fairfield has very very little rental inventory right now.

So yeah, I think I like Norwalk better than Stamford because it seems more chill. **puts flame suit on**

I don't think Norwalk is more "chill", but if you like what you saw - go for it. Although be prepared for a frustrating commute if you do it by car.

I still think that Westport apartment by the train station you found is your best bet.
