In response to the (3) incidents in the Capital City this weekend, what is everyone's feeling on what is to come for Hartford?

I believe there were 2 shootings (one fatal) and 1 stabbing this weekend. I know that the fatal shooting was in a location that many consider to be safe, me included. There are many bars/clubs in this area. I have been going to Hartford many years and the most I've seen is two knuckle heads fight and it ends there, but this has got me thinking. There are "safe" areas of Hartford and really sketchy areas of Hartford ( I work in/around a few of them). Is Hartford getting worse or is it remaining the same? I also noticed that in some areas (Frog Hollow, North End and Parkville) everyone is wearing RED. Red is the universal color of the bloods. Is the gang activity picking up? I like Hartford, I want it to thrive, but with this type of constant hardship, can it ever.

It's not like Hartford is a huge size (in terms of SF). For the most part it is condensed and yes there is other more dangerous cities out there, but I feel they are more spread out and you could find some decent area in them. Hartford has but one decent area.

Just looking for thoughts.

My thoughts exactly. I frequent Pourhouse, Russian Lady, The Tavern and Rocking Horse. Overall it's relativity safe area and never have I ever seen/heard of anything like that. I hope it is a "freak" incident.

Although rare, there have been shootings in downtown New Haven too. That never stopped me from going out there. Although the amount of people out in downtown New Haven far exceeds that of Hartford downtown, so I suppose it's more likely.

Last year there was a shooting on a Saturday night on Crown Street in New Haven, right in the middle of the nightclub district. I do not think that changed people's opinion of downtown New Haven, at least not in the long term. Why would Hartford be any different?

Saturday night we went down to Front Street to eat and see a movie. There was also the Caribean Festival going on down at Riverfront. It was great to see so many people around. We had a good time and I think the theaters were really nice. We will likely go again rather than head out to Buckland. Jay

I don't think it'll change peoples minds. People will still go out in these areas and have a fun time while being safe. It was a freak accident. Like my mom says, "nothing good happens after midnight." no matter where you are.

This is typical in Hartford, thugs carrying guns and ready to strike any minute. Good news, it hasn't been bystanders getting shot, mostly thugs killing other thugs.
