No one moves to Mass. for tax reasons. Here's what Immelt said:

"Massachusetts spends more on research and development than any other region in the world, and Boston attracts a diverse, technologically fluent workforce focused on solving challenges for the world,'' GE Chief Executive Jeff Immelt said. "We are excited to bring our headquarters to this dynamic and creative city."

Sure, taxes are too high here, however, I think it make sense to look at the bigger picture as well.

Never going to happen. Almost half of the tax revenue comes from the income tax. We rely on it so much it'll never be eliminated. I'd do away with some business taxes first like getting rid of the business entity tax as well as lowering the corporate tax.

A big savings could be realized by eliminating paying for private insurance plans for those who are retired and eligible for Medicare. This could significantly reduce expenses, lower taxes and help preserve staff and services. It is ridiculous to pay double for insurance. Co-pays need to be raised as well as they are significantly below average cost. However, I do expect that some time within this next president's term we will be migrating to expanded Medicare. The exchanges are crumbling and health insurance is one of the biggest factors holding back the US economy in general and Connecticut in particular. Our healthcare costs are among the highest in the nation and the exchange is soon to be without insurers.

Awful lot of fluff for what amounts to a company that licensed it's real innovation (an antiviral for hepC) to fund It's transition to a traditional pharma company that screens small compounds for drug commercialization. This is a tired old business model that has existed since the industrialization of medicinal chemistry. All the big guys with billions do this at 100x the scale Achilles will. It goes without saying that small molecule drug development is considered to be mostly dead. The rate of decline of blockbuster drugs on the market or in dev pipelines speaks for itself. Experts tend to agree that most blockbuster compounds have already been discovered, as millions have been screen daily for decades. Population level medicine is transitioning into personalized medicine. RNA therapeutics, tailored antibodies, gene editing therapy, these are the "bio pharma" advances coming out of Boston, San Diego , NC et al. Compound screening? Lol. This company is moving BACKWARDS. Hardly an exciting area of science/biotech. Hopefully alexion and JAX can make more scientifically stimulating, longer lasting, higher return contributions to CT.

Very disgusting. Guess its easier to cut programs and staff that serve the people that are the LEAST capable of advocating for themselves.

Yet we found $22 million for a company owned by one of the richest people in America.

This is looney tunes. I suppose Malloy et al has finally jumped the shark.
