Do we judge all of Newtown based on that Lanza kid?

Hernandez could have been fine in Bristol, and only turning into a bad guy once he left and went to college? Or, after he joined the NFL in 2010. (Not saying that's how it happened - just, that it could have.)

And how would you describe the other CT town that spawned a real homegrown monster. Your screen name suggests you're from NJ, so I'll clue you in in case you're not familiar: that other guy from that other town who committed acts so extreme, grew up in an absolutely charming and beautiful environment. And because you're interested in fairness, in all fairness the real monster did not grow up in "that certain type of environment which encouraged such behavior." Jeez, can we please get back to that point in time where we actually held individuals accountable for their actions, and not be so quick to point to external environmental conditions which may, and very likely may not, have any bearing on the end result of their own horrific personal stories... Bristol is a solid working class town. There's nothing wrong with it at all. The end.

No. Bristol is not even considered rough by CT standards.

I'm going to go the other way a bit. Most of Bristol is fine, but downtown and the West End are definitely sketchy. Lots of little bodegas operate that are really just fronts for selling drugs. The city is trying to combat blight in those areas by demolishing abandoned and properties, but can't keep up with the demand. Out of town landlords have run the area into the ground by renting to people who do not take care of their environment or respect the laws. Stay out of downtown and the West End, though, and it is like a suburban town.

Nah it's more white trash I think. I live near espn and have for 13 years and never had issues. Stay away from center of two or near muzzy field.

He went to University of Florida, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if there were a lot of players from "rough" towns there. If he had gone to UConn, probably would have worked out better.

It's not Cumberland farms it's pop-up stores that resell items of "necessity" think NYC convenience store not suburbs.

As far as above comment about that area with the bodegas...it's maybe 1-2 square miles. There was a quarry there and they are old quarry workers homes that have become low income rentals. The areas next to Terryville, Burlington, Farmington, etc have the feel of those areas. If you only drive through town on route numbers you won't get to see what the city has to offer.

Cumberland Farms is not considered a "bodega".

It's not Cumberland Farms. It's the little bodegas that line route 72 in the West End, change names every few months, have almost no products on the shelves, and have customers going in and out at 3:00 in the morning.
