My hubby and I have Verizon for our cell phone carrier. Our contract ended on 8/30 and we are eligible for an upgrade. So, we are also thinking of maybe changing carriers to at&t, as the same exact plan we have with Verizon is $10 less at at&t.

We just moved back to CT, but we have good service w/ Verizon. How is at&t service in the greater Hartford area overall?

Thanks!

AT&T is pretty solid. Verizon rules Connecticut pretty well (along with rest of America), but, you should be good with AT&T as well! =)

I used to have terrible service with AT&T in northern fairfield county, but this was years ago so maybe it has improved? I've been with Verizon for a long time and have been happy for the most part, except for the non-existent coverage in areas of northern westchester county, NY (parts of Bedford, Lewisboro, North Salem). Kind of annoying because, if I'm not taking the highway, a good portion of my commute is though these towns.

I've had AT&T for 10 years. I have yet to go anywhere in the state where I have no service. The only exception would be some large stores seem to block the signal due to their construction.

AT&T and Verizon both tend to have good coverage in CT. I don't think you'll find any difference.

I have no complaints about AT&T in the Middletown / New Haven / Hartford area. It's LTE pretty much everywhere I go.

If you plan to be away from the interstates for a majority of the time, that's when things get spotty. When we go camping in CT, coverage is usually one bar or less.

Verizon is better in the rural parts of the state, but if you're spending most of your time in greater Hartford/New Haven, you're fine with either.

Besides geographical coverage, you also have to factor in call quality. Phone quality aside (i.e. Motorola & Apple phones have better microphones on their devices compared to Samsung - regardless of carrier), I have always noticed that Verizon provides clearer calls. Calls with AT&T folks are not quite as clear and/or cut out more frequently.

Of course, all of this is very subjective but that's just my own observation. Verizon has always been dependable for me, and being hobbyist techie who enjoys comparing Signal Strength between devices & carriers just for fun, I personally wouldn't switch for $10.00/month in savings.

Thanks for the tips everyone. We decided just to stick w/ Verizon, not worth the whole hassle for $10 a month, and we know we have good coverage where ever we go.
