Once Capital Grille opened my office would go there rather than Morton's. I believe the same occured for many others. Above all else, the parking situation is just easier at Capital. I tend to find other places such as Flemmings in W. Hartford to be more consistent and better quality than these two.

Yeah, I agree! And it being in the base of UBS--with RBS right across the street.

I think Morton's is in trouble. They still have quite a few nationwide locations--I just checked out their website. However, I was thinking about my choice in high-end chain steakhouses. I have never visited a Morton's, but have been to Ruth's Chris as well as Capital Grille, several times each.

Well just like in Stamford... Morton's was the one to go and Capital Grill remains. I hear Capital Grill is the better of the two but I guess it's personal preference.

Nah. Millenials are the most brand-loyal generation in history. But they don't do "fine dining/white tablecloth". Much more likely to do street food-ish/small plate meals over the traditional three-course dinner.

Ate there once, too pretentious and with better restaurants in walking distance never considered a return trip. Customer loyalty is earned not bought.

Looks like the trend is continuing. Carmen Anthony Closes Restaurants In New Haven, Waterbury - Hartford Courant

Never been to one it looked too pricey for me. But sad to see 2 more establishments close.

I say good riddance. I've eaten at the one in New Haven three times and each time was more disappointing than the previous. The cut of steak was mediocre at best and their sides were bland. The prices were outrageous for what was offered and the ambience was dingy, dark and depressing. The only thing "upscale" about CA-New Haven were the prices.

There are far better places in New Haven to get a better steak for half the price.

Totally agree. Very underwhelming. I liked the bar though.

With CA closing, I don't believe there is a proper steakhouse in NH. Which is surprising considering the breadth of the city's culinary landscape.

I am surprised about the Waterbury location closing since it was their original restaurant. I have eaten lunch at the New Haven location a couple of times but never dinner. I thought it was good and I liked the décor because it was traditional, not trendy. I have also been to Woodbury and thought it was good too. Even Wethersfield was good IMHO, it just was located on the wrong section of the Berlin Turnpike. It might have done better if it was further south. Sad when a long-time Connecticut restaurant closes. Jay
