This is joke, right? Bold alright, to keep leading the sheep to the slaughterhouse.
Here we go again, blaming all our states problems on the Democrats when thee is more than enough blame to go around. It was not only the Democrats that scammed the middle class. Remember we had 12 years of Republican Governors, 16 if you include Wiecker, who did nothing to change things. Republican Governor Jodi Rell actually borrowed money to balance her budget. Talk about fiscal irresponsibility. And it was Lowell Weicker, a Republican, who gave us the wonderful income tax.

You also forget that there will be a question on the November ballot that will stop the state from raiding the Transportation Fund. It has been discussed here MANY times.

And yes, Governor Malloy’s Transportation Plan is bold. It identifies billions of dollars worth of transportation projects that would transform our state. I would certainly call that bold. Kind of hard to say it is not. Jay

Do you know how much money the Democrats raided from the fund ? There was an article about this recently and it was very little, but I'd like to know what dollar amount to you think was moved. And do you know where that money was moved to ?

Since you love Republicans so much, where is their transportation plan for CT ?

The Connecticut Republicans don’t have a plan. That is the infuriating part. They plan to do nothing as with everything. And they wonder why the state is heavily Democrat. Jay

First, I don't love Republicans so much. As I said, republican governors were stupid to go along with Democrats raiding the Transportation fund.

Since 1992 CT legislature, which holds the purse strings, has been under Democrat control for 23 years. GOP only 2.

About where the money specifically went from gas tax? It Doesn’t go into a specific place, but rather into the General Fund, which is like a big washing machine. If you look at the 110 page CT budget then you will see where the money goes.

Biggest cost line items are pensions, state’s payroll, social programs and grants to rotten cities of Bridgeport, Waterbury and the other usual suspects.

All Democrat constituencies.

Funds for “Rail operations”? Less than 10% of teacher’s pensions alone. Rail operations benefit the suburbs, which tends to vote Republican.

The real question is - how can you vote Democrat? They have been destroying the state. Their masks are off.

Jay: we have discussed this plan ad nauseam before. Regardless, what makes you think that future Governors and Legislatures will not throw this in the garbage?

When have they followed any plan, let alone 30 year plan? Just because Malloy did it? This is laughable.

IF the money comes out of one fund it has to go into a different fund. That's how Govt accounting works. There no traditional debits and credits.

The Governor has VETO POWER. Everyone here seems to forget that. The only way the Democrats can force a REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR to do anything is when they have a super majority. If a Governor doesn't sign a bill after five days it automatically passes. That is how our Govt works.

I swear this is like romper room for kindergartners. Didnt you guys pay attention in civics class ?

The whole thing is a red herring. Look at the budget. The majority of the money goes to debt service/unfunded pensions, which you can’t touch, education which mostly funds K-12 in the failed cities, and safety net which is mostly Medicaid. You either raise taxes to fund that or you slash spending targeted at poor people. You can’t fund infrastructure projects when those top-3 consume the lions share of the budget.
