Yeah it's funny they never mention the empty highways. If rt 6 way a full highway all the way to Providence I think you would see 384 fill in more and that rt6 connector but currently that's not going to happen.

I-384 was supposed to run all the way to Providence. The current RT 6 was a compromise. At the minimum i-384 should run to UCONN.

IMO if I-384 did run to Providence that may have opened up job opportunities for residents of both states CT + RI.

Rt 6 has the nick name "suicide 6" and rightly so. Not a well designed road especially when driving it at night.

I wish they could at least connect I-384 in Bolton to the short US Route 6 expressway near Willimantic. The problem is the Hop River. That's the biggest reason these segments were never linked.

As bad as Rt 6 may be in CT, it's even worse in RI!

But you're right--it's a travesty that the capitals of CT & RI are not connected by a single highway.

It's a shame that they didn't complete I-384. It seems like a pointless highway since it runs parallel to Interstate 84. If the state chose to complete Interstate 384 it would be nearly impossible since new housing has shown up in its original path. Rivers and lakes are in the way as well. Since CT is a extremist when it comes to NIMBY attitudes, I don't ever see it being finished. It would be a waste of money since our population isn't growing at all.

Worst accident I've had was on rt 6 West between Andover and 384.

I was going about 10mph over the limit when I noticed a car that had come up behind me riding me. I speed up a bit more, he closes the gap again. At this point I wanted to pull over and just let him pass but he was so close to me I couldn't even see the Honda emblem on his front hood.

I was too nervous to brake and slow down worried he'd rear end me.

So I'm trying to figure out what to do when he attempts to use a 200 yard, if that, left turn lane to pass me, but he doesn't get to pass me because of oncoming traffic. Instead he drove right into my driver side door to avoid a head on colission.

He left the scene, but a car behind me kept going to get his plate and he called it in (so thankful for him). He got charged with the usual leaving a scene of an accident etc
.. Expect for the resisting arrest and assaulting a cop part. He actually had insurance which I didn't expect so that was helpful.

You have to take your foot off the accelerator when people get that close. Many people panic and speed up and that makes the problem worse. Speeding up is the worst thing you could have done.
