Yah, my earlier "bust" comment was probably a little harsh Mels, but I did hear last night around 10 they were calling for 19-30 inches, so compare that to the about 10 inches we got, if even that much, and yah, it's not a "bust" by any means, especially for inland areas, but for my area, it certainly disappointed.

Now that my basketball season ended and I have no more practices or games (until this weekend @ Mohegan) I was hoping for a good 2.5 foot snow storm for one last good snow storm of the season because even with 2.5 feet I probably would have been out by Saturday morning. Instead, we got less than a foot, and freezing rain to boot!

To those who are "disappointed" that we didn't get crippling snow - consider the essential employees (firefighters, cops, nurses, doctors, DOT employees) who can't get home and are working 16-24+ hours. They work in shifts and sleep on a hard floor (or in a chair, or ambulance stretcher). These people also have to get home and clear their driveways, let their pets out or find someone to watch their kids. Additionally, when it snows a massive amount, ambulance, police cars and fire trucks often get stuck en route to calls for service, leading to potential dangerous situations. So next time people say they are "disappointed", I encourage them to think about those who don't get a snow day.

I just spoke to family in upstate NY (east of Binghamton). They're getting crushed: 2 feet and it's still coming down hard.

Someone just parked a pickup truck on the street in front of my house and my section of a dead end hasn't been plowed yet. If this person doesn't return to move the truck I won't be able to get out of my house tomorrow if the plow truck can't do the road because of him.

One foot Danbury / Bethel ..not epic but surely not a bust.

Side note..that is two 1 foot storms Danbury got this year. Doesn't happen often.

9 inches of snow & sleet here... Doing my core sample. melted to 1.85" liquid. That's 5:1 ratios. Lots of liquid sitting on the ground now. Should we talk about rapid flooding yet?

Am I geek or what? ITS FUN!

When is this gonna melt? Basement window almost buried now. This is a sheltered spot but gets drifting.

As far as when it will end. The storm is pretty much winding down now. The center of it is Heading for Eastern MA.

But I see 3 backside bands in MD, PA, & NJ heading our way. Lets see if they hold. Could snow in spurts and drop another inch or so.

This storm is lasting longer than any other storms this past winter I believe. I think its like over 15 hours now since the start. It's testing my stamina for sure. lol

Loop last 4 hours 1:20-5:20pm

  • Still some moderate bursts of snow in CT (Meriden & Hartfords) but pretty much light stuff or done
  • I see very pretty clouds over Kentucky.
  • Burlington VT under heavy banding for few hours
  • Philly changed over the snow for short time
  • Maine and Northern New England getting hammered now.
  • Mt Washington I wonder whats going on up there at 6200'
  • Huge Dry slot as you guys mentioned
  • 981mb Storm now passing Long Island, cant believe its that close to the coast
  • Lastly... look for the lightning icons in MA. Thundersnow there!
  • Still raining on Nantucket? They must be over 2 inches now. I saw flooding reports in Southeast New England
