I wish I knew. Some of us don't get snow days and actually have to be at work or travel. As we have seen from this current storm, it's life-threatening.

Do folks here have a snow plowing side job?

I have to be at work too. In my last job, I was actually picked up in two storms where I couldn't get my car out of the driveway. I've also been driven to housesitting jobs as that was preferable to getting trapped in a driveway.

Then there's the hassle of cleaning the snow and the aftermath. I'm outside every day chipping at ice that forms on the sideway, because god forbid people actually wear snow-appropriate shoes while walking Spot. And that's the side of the house that gets full sun. My back walk and part of my driveway is in constant shade for a good 4 months, as is my deck, so that's a continual sheet of ice to deal with. Plus the mess that gets tracked into the house, which means a boot tray that's in the way, throw rugs and extra floor washing (not everyone has a mudroom). Some day I will open the back hall again to make it wider but it's so cold that leaving shoes out there in freezing temps may not be fun either.

Compare that to mowing the lawn once every 7-14 days. I will never ever buy a house with a sidewalk again. Ever.

I get that people like to ski and stuff but sheesh

That's my rant for the week

365 days in a year vs 7 disruptive snow days.

Saw forecasts get raised for DC area. 9" on ground and still snowing.

Went for a nice run this evening with the sunsetting. 27° with dew of 7°. Was awesome! Felt great.

I think I might be wrong about the weekend storm. I will change my opinion after I see tonights updates.

Pretty impressive how all models are agreeing on big snows now. This far out?

And there might be a little snow event Friday before the bigger one.

Oh wow. I love running when it's 80 degrees with a dew point of 62. Winters are why God created gyms.
