You are right, however because of that, and because African Americans are statistically lower income than caucasians, Connecticut becomes one of the most racially segregated states in the nation. There’s really no denying that.

Yes but that is not a problem that is exclusive to Connecticut. The same can be said in any state. I think it is more obvious here because of our state's affluence. Jay

Seeing that CT statistically ranks as having the largest gap between rich/poor (thus black/white) in the nation, it’s worse than in any other state. Again, it’s a statistic that can’t really be up for debate.

The five boroughs are far worse (despite being the liberal bastion) --- and 2x the population of CT. Yet the NYT can't stop being preachy about our state's inequality.

These towns are not pricey in FFC but as I noted are above the median for Southwest CT. So this original statement.....

"Nah, dirt cheap there just like Shelton, Trumbull, Monroe and all those other bottom feeder places", by Raider111

......with the phrase "bottom feeder" is as absurd as it is ignorant. It is ignorant because SOUTHWEST CT = FAIRFIELD COUNTY = THE STAMFORD/NORWALK/BRIDGEPORT STATISTICAL METRO AREA. It's all the same.

The towns noted by Raider111 as "bottom feeders" are AT or ABOVE the median for HH income, house price and schools. Also of great note which is important to home buyers is that Fairfield, Trumbull & Monroe schools are among the best in CT and pretty high in the top 1/2 in Fairfield County.

There are 23 towns/cities in Fairfield County. On this list by towns Monroe, Trumbull & Fairfield make it into the top 1/2 of the best schools in FFC.
https://patch.com/connecticut/greenw...districts-2017

And that is why pretty much all of FFC--Southwest CT--Stamford/Norwalk/Bridgeport is ranked #8 for happiness. Just about all of FFC has good schools, high incomes, access to good paying jobs all within a good drive or train ride to NYC.

Even Bethel which is much lower on the metrics (schools, incomes, house price) compared to Monroe, Trumbull & Fairfield in FFC is still a very nice place to live when compared on a national level. But it seems a town like Bethel would be deemed a "bottom, bottom feeder" in FFC by the aforementioned poster.

Please stop right now. They could handle it in the 5 boroughs. If an AA took a stroll through cute and charming little downtown Witlon you and others would probably have a conniption

What drivel are you spewing this go around? Gini index is about wealth distribution. Not ‘diversity’.

If you can’t draw the connection between economics and race, you’re not paying attention. You might want to read up on the RNI.

Bridgeport/Stamford/Norwalk has statistically the highest Gini coefficient of any US city, including the five boroughs. In fact, the boroughs don't even make the top 10 list.

And there are many sources other than the NYT. Period.
