I'd get more for my taxpayers money down there since most of our dollars up here are allocated to the poor. From a family standpoint, I can see why Connecticut is worth it, but our kids have moved out, and we just want to settle down and save money like everyone else.
They are three I lived in. Tn is my fav; SC is my gf's choice to retire in. I have no issues with that choice. I'd also be content with the metropolitan parts of Ky, NC, or Ga. I'm also very fond of the Scottsdale, Az region.

There are no states I have visited where I fully dislike them.

Overall I’m very happy living here.

My happiness decreases everytime I have to drive on I-95 along the Gold Coast and during the winter. But, I don’t live on I-95 and winter lasts three months (some years winter weather lasts even less lol.) So, it’s doable.

I also hate tax season, but the good still outweights the bad.

In the end, the deal breakers for me could be more tax hikes and/or a deep freeze that lasts months. Anyone wants to wager which one has a greater chance of happening? lol

Born, raised, and now bored in SW CT. Looking forward to new scenery out west and taking a sledgehammer to the snowblower.
We do have the best dining in the state though I'll give it that.

Life's good in Litchfield county. Great food, great scenery, decent people, laid back lifestyle, and I don't have to mortgage my first born and my left arm to live here.

Let me change this for you "you THINK you will be happier somewhere else"

I'm not saying you wouldn't be but until you go do it, you'll never know.

You must not be in any of the bougie towns along the southern and western border.
