We will be driving to Moosup for a wedding from the mid-atlantic area for a weekend in early June. Wondering where to stay and things to put on our "must do, must see" list and would like to hear from a local or people who have visted there before. Thanks!

You might enjoy the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam-- a miles or so away-
A visit to the town of Essex across the Connecticut river is a delightful experience. Old Saybrook just around the corner is also most pleasant.

Mystic Seaport and Sea Life Aquarium are not far away, in Mystic/Groton

In Groton the state park of the first Atomic Submarine- The Nautilus is fascinating, as is the nearby Submarine Museum.

Also check out Gillette's Castle which is a stunning castle on the Connecticut River in East Haddam built by William Gillette, the first actor to portray Sherlock Holmes. Jay

MOOSUP is not near Goodspeed Opera House or Gillette's Castle - they are near MOODUS ~ two totally different places. Moosup is a village in the town of Plainfield. There are two decent hotels in that area: Best Western and Holiday Inn Express. They are both off 395 (exit 87). Moosup itself does not have a whole lot to see or do, but we are a short distance from both the Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods Resort Casino. Moosup/Plainfield does have a walking trail, a couple of decent restaurants, a bowling alley, a rollerskating rink and the Music Lady is the place for music/dancing. Moosup is also close to Putnam and Norwich if you are looking for a show/play or antique shopping.

And then there's always the Moosup River....

Or Moosup Pond.

I haven't been there in 30 years.

You are talking about MOODUS not Moosup.

Ha! Let’s review:

Moodus = Part of East Haddam in the CT River Valley

Moosup = Part of Plainfield, located in the quiet corner, and the subject of this thread

The Moodus/Moosup comment was meant for JayCT and Skytrekker - not YAZ.

No worries, Moosup Girl.

Where do you live in Moosup?

I had relatives that lived on Cone Hill. Do ya know where that is?

It's near Kamaan's.

Kaman is on one end of Main Street and I live on the other end - near Riverview Restaurant. I have lived in Moosup most of my life so yes I know where Cone Hill is. As a matter of fact I have a friend that lives on Cone Hill.
