All done in Cheshire.

This rain storm was something else. If rain is coming the next couple days im hopeful they're only showers. Im ready for some outdoor activities again.

Looks like the worst of the rain from Elsa indeed was in CT and LI (as opposed to yesterday's storms when the worst of it was in Bronx/Manhattan and Westchester). I saw a report of a spotter in Stamford saying 5" and BDR got almost 4" (which still got 1" yesterday, but the areas I mentioned did the reverse, got 4-5" yesterday and 1-2" today).

Elsa 10:30am-2:30pm July 9, 2021.

Seeing more flooding reports than strong wind gust reports.

Elsa only really produced 2-4". Maybe more in some spots?

Partly Sunny afternoon and a calm Long Island Sound. LOL. Tropical Storm?

Clouds started to move in but they're breaking apart if you look at the last few frames on the radar loop above

I had a max wind speed of 18mph, 9:43am
Unfortunately I didn't get the rain gauge for my station
I can say that both last night and today I had stuff blown over on my deck that hadn't moved this summer until now.

I now wish I'd bought more grass seed, it's been nice not watering!

I had water in my basement for the first time. I don't even know where it came from; it was in a few random puddles in the middle of the floor. The wind wasn't bad but we sure got soaked. Not sure the last time I've seen so much rain so quickly.

BDR ended up with 4.09" which shattered the record for the date of 1.29" set in 1964 (interestingly, that day had the lowest ever July high temperature at BDR, 63 degrees). I think theirs was the biggest rain total by far of the six "official" OKX stations today. In fact, it was only the 2nd time on record that 4+" fell on any July "calendar date" at BDR (5.95" on July 19, 1971, we just passed the 3.93" recorded on July 29, 1980).

If that 7.57 is 2019, then according NWS they have already tied it for the month. Also check out the site showing storm damage. Lots of flooding, a few trees down, etc. in Fairfield and New Haven counties:

For Fairfield:

Non event if you don't live in a flood prone area (I'm super lucky not to)

Moderate flooding in the beach area

I should've taken a pic of the Mill River; might've been higher than I've ever seen it before

Stylo/Bob, what happened in Milford? I saw a ton of outages there on UI map
