Highlighted all the measurable precip days for my backyard in CT past 4 months.

Sundays and Thursdays is winning.

Keep in mind each day is from a 7am report so its for 24hrs prior.

Hard to find long dry stretches of 4 days+.

What is really interesting is how different conditions have been across Connecticut/Tri-State area depending on where one is located.

For example, NWS Bridgeport (and southwest CT in general) seems to have had the coolest and most cloudy days. Monthly mean temp at NWS Bridgeport are within 0.5 degree of normal, and only about .32 inches of rain below normal. It's been seasonally warm with 10 of the last 14 days in the 60's or 70's F, but no real heat.

However, NWS Bradley has had a whole different theme. Monthly mean temps are running 3. 1 F above normal, they have had only 1 inch of rain so far this month, and are running .67 inches below normal. 10 of the last 14 days have been in the 70's and 80's F.

Looking at the medium term forecast...it will be interesting to see if Bradley can hold the above normal temps/below normal rainfall until the end of the month

Too much is no good! Constant is no good. No sun is no good! Gotta get dry periods even for gardens.

Waves of rain rotating in!

Previous graph was for entire year. Here's a look at SPRING only...

Bridgeport, CT vs Seattle.

We are 4 days away from catching up to Seattle's measurable precip days. I bet we match or surpass their cloudy days as well.

We have 3 times more rain than they do this spring. Wettest Spring since 2010 for coastal CT.

Agree. My plants are growing like crazy with the showers and heat.

I don't know about the upper New England states (but I would guess the same as down in CT) but CT and the Tri-State area have had the perfect amount of showers this month. No flooding like in Texas or drought and fires like parts on southwest Canada. I love the way it went from a drab dead lifeless trees... to now if you look up a hillside it looks like the Mts of Indonesia. It looks like a jungle now

If you look at the numbers, both NWS stations in CT at least, they are dead on normal in terms of precip. In fact, even with the rain yesterday, NWS Bridgeport could not even muster 1 inch in two days, so we're not getting the heavy rain. Also, both NWS stations in CT are just over the normal monthly rainfall:

By Friday after the showers pass...we should once again see sunshine and with the recent rain/showers and temps into the 70's F....my landscape and plants will feel like they are in Thailand.

I thought this was interesting...showing how relative it can be comparing one NWS station to another when you consider what is normal:

Dallas, TX vs Bridgeport, CT

With the next 7 days with little or no precip in the Tri-State area, but more severe rain/storms headed to the southwest...I'll bet total precip between Dallas and Bridgeport gets even larger by the end of the next week

NWS Dallas has not only had more total precip, but even Texas has been able to produce at least one day with 1 inch or more of rainfall while Bridgeport could not. Dallas has had almost twice as many days with a trace or more of rain than Bridgeport.

As of May 15th...
