This isn't necessarily true in determining property taxes. Some towns might have just had a revaluation (thus lowering the mill rate) while others might be a year away from doing so. Always, remember, assessed value x mils = property tax.

I remember the uproar in Middlebury and Cheshire when their mill rates reached the low 30s. In the case of Middlebury, a sign was erected showing towns with similarly high mill rates. It was funny to see Cheshire and Bristol (which had the same mill rate) listed together.
