I don't think so. I've eaten at both. Crossville one has a nice big salad bar. The Gondola's in Cookeville is directly across from the Baymont Inn on S. Jefferson Ave.

"Harry" is the original owner. He has bought and sold his business several times, but it isn't the same. He took back ownership last year. Great Greek food as Harry is originally from Greece and first opened the restaurant 40 years ago.

Right now is a great time to try it if you haven't been there before, as he is offering 2 for 1 dinner specials - several selections.

Went to the Country Chick for lunch. Sandwiches were good, but not very big for the price. 2 sand, 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chip and 2 drinks was over $15. I expected a real deli sandwich and I didn't get it, so I was kind of disappointed. We need a Jason's Deli here.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience at Gondola's. We've eaten there over a dozen times and never had a bad meal or waitress.

Default Algood BBQ

This article appeared last month in the Herald Citizen. After reading the story, we stopped by and sampled one chicken and one pork shoulder sandwich. Definitely GREAT BBQ.

One word of caution - give yourself a little extra time for service.

We hope them great success in their business venture.

Herald Citizen - Get a bit of a taste from above at G s BBQ?

I saw that in the H-C and man it does sound good!

I'm going to be in Cookeville this weekend with an old college buddy who's going to be in town interviewing for a job (he has 9 kids and currently lives in Seattle, he and his wife are hoping Cookeville will be a better fit for them, and I hope so, too). I'm sure he'll want me to take him to some great local restaurants. I'm thinking Bobby Q's just because it's such a Cookeville institution and they have the best dang banana pudding on the planet. But we might go check out G's instead. Decisions, decisions! And what a great predicament to have: trying to decide which BBQ restaurant to go to.

JMT,

Take him to Bobby Q's. G's is in the Algood Shell Station. Take him there for carryout, for a sit down, go to Bobby Q's (I like Rib City though).

Oh ok now I know where G's is. Yeah it sounds like Bobby Q's would be better. I've been wanting to try Rib City, too.

Has anyone here tried the new ice cream shop and café in the old Cream City building downtown?
