Unbelievable. Patrons of a restaurant complain about a two-year olds squeaky shoes. What kind of people would actually do that?

My guess is that the people complaining were doing so because they felt it was a distraction to their phone conversations. Really? A squeaky shoe on a 2-year-old is going to ruin your day? Self-centered #%#$@s.

What an adorable little girl.

Yes, she is adorable! I saw this on my local news; I was happy to see that the child's mother and even Panera have such a good, understanding attitude about this situation afterwards. I can't believe an employee would say this to a customer. What they say is true, "common sense" isn't common!

no the story says that they asked her to remove the shoes, there was nothing about them being kicked out.

The thread on a kid at Alinea in the Great Debates forum I can understand. But this is Panera... who complains at Panera?

Anyway, why were the kid's shoes squeaking? I do hope some orthopaedic specialist reads this and gets the kid a non-squeaky pair. Not because of Panera's customers, but the kid deserves shoes that don't squeak. She shouldn't have to be made to feel self-conscious about that. If it happens in Panera it's happening all the time, right? Would you want squeaky shoes if you were a kid?

The shoes are deliberately squeaky to help her learn to walk properly.

In fairness here, it is not like there is a clear difference in orthopedic shoes and regular shoes that is visible to the naked eye, so the customer and employee probably didn't know the child was disabled. The employee probably would have been better served waiting to see if he got other complaints before talking to the family.

The customer..... I'm gonna say this and leave it alone. I don't like being around loud children (I'm not having children so relax). There is a reason I don't eat in and get my food to go at places like Panera or buffets. I know there are kids there that are going to make noise. Why put myself in that situation in the first place?

Shameful that people have so little in their lives to be concerned with, that they picked on this precious little girl. She can "squeak" around me anytime of the day or night.
