I guess we will never know, will we? Because now all the reasons you gave are being used to continue justifying bad behavior, when the conditions don't actually exist for most of the bad guys. Do you think every criminal comes from the ghetto?
No I don't. I think most of them live in mansions and have servants. Usually robberies are commited by desparate people who don't have any source of income, legal or illegal. Many times they are drug addicts who aren't rational at all. I would most certainly not feel any more comfortable knowing that random people have handguns on them. Most of these people play Call of Duty on the weekends and go out and buy a .45 and don't know or have ever been in a situation like the one we are talking about. I am not opposed to gun ownership at all, in fact I own quite a few. Thinking you are going to stop criminals buy giving everybody handguns is ridiculous. In most scenarios the criminals will probably shoot them as soon as they see the gun being drawn. Sure some people have stopped robberies by shooting trespassers but a lot more people have been shot to death trying to protect their precious money. This is why we have law enforcement. There have been many cases where people who have concealed handguns get into a argument of something trivial and shoot the person they are arguing with.

I am not saying that all gun owners with concealed weapons licenses would do something like this, I think that most wouldn't. You never know though, especially if it involves an altercation. When people have bad days and tempers flare the last thing they need is a loaded handgun.

There is a very long thread about this incident in the Tampa forum.
All 3 states are also 95% white, but we can't talk about that factor.

Oh now, a legally armed citizen nearly made a mistake, but then he didn't. This is your best argument against legal concealed carry?

The states with the most violence are generally the ones with the most lenient gun laws. That is a fact. Violent crime is much worse in the South with its lenient gun laws than in the Northeast with more strict gun laws.
And several of the states with the least violence are the states with the most lenient gun laws. What's your point?
Maine Vermont & New Hampshire are always ranked at the bottom for murder and violent crime, and yet Brady gives them D or F ratings for gun laws. These three Northeast states with almost no gun laws (All three allow open carry, and both ME and NH are "Shall Issue") consistently have the lowest violent crime rates in the country -- lower even than England.
These three states are also cold, sparsely populated, and pasty white, with fewer non-whites than England (England =85%), but that can't possibly be a factor worth considering. I credit the climate, it's just too cold here most of the year to go outside and terrorize your neighbors a mile down the road.
I am happy to patronize businesses and other establishments with NO GUNS signs on the door. And I will continue to support them no matter how many false equivalencies like the OP's are publicized.
If we have more guns this will be less likely too happen.
If they had locked the back doors this would be less likely to happen.
