thirty years ago in Detroit, there were incidents where people would hang bowling pins at windshield-height from overpasses. When the cars would hit them, they'd pull over--only to then be robbed at gunpoint from their friends who were waiting below and farther down the road.
Thats nothing new- we were about to go under a bridge a few years back when we noticed
appx. a half dozen teens on the bridge dropping bricks onto peoples vehicles.
We even noticed an old lady who was pulled to the side with a shattered windshield.
We pulled over & chased them down.
Coincidentally a guy I grew up with who's also a cop also saw them
& started chasing them at the same time we did- they were totally busted.

No, excuses will not be made for these two. They're the wrong color, and they will get everything they deserve. When they get out of prison, they will have tattoos all up on their faces and necks, done in the feeble hopes that the tats will make them look less feminine and thus make them less desirable as gang-rape victims. Not that it will help much, though. They may also sport female breasts when they get out, because they may have been forced to take hormones to feminize them. They'll also have AIDS, of course, and brain damage from having been knocked unconscious over and over. One or both may be wearing colostomy bags as a result of all the raping. And if the other inmates haven't extracted all their teeth (so they can give better ---- ---s during the gang-rapes), it will be a surprise.
Actually, rocks and bricks thrown from overpasses have been KILLING people for decades. Generally, though, they're dropped by "Teens" and "Youths" of "protected" colors, and so these horrible crimes have not previously been so extensively reported.
These "Youths" helped take a bit of pressure off other white people, because 'authorities' will be closer, now, to meeting their (unofficial) quota of whites to arrest/prosecute/imprison.
