Here's the key to this entire thread. You can read the entire thing and what you see is that all of the liberal people hear that 97 million people are on food stamps and they just say "right." In other words, that's completely normal to them. The only complaint is that even more people could be put on food stamps, if the rich weren't busy stealing all the money from everyone.
In contrast, the people on the right hear that 97 million people are on food stamps and say "don't you find it strange that 97 million people are supposedly incapable of feeding themselves?"
Earlier, someone suggested that if we were going to fund school breakfast and lunch programs, then we shouldn't have to pay as much for the other programs that supposedly are intended to feed kids. You know, since they're supposedly getting two of their three meals per day at school. And to that, a liberal immediately said that amounted to wanting to kill children. How odd. I mean, any normal person would say "that makes total sense." But a liberal just says "no, you get all of the money you previously got and then you now get more. What don't you understand?? Or do you want kids to die? I bet you want kids to die."
I mentioned that if welfare really is "just for five years," as people contend, the common-sense and simple solution would be to have one single agency handle welfare and they could easily determine when everyone had used up their five years. Now, if your true intention was to make sure that welfare actually was just for five years, as the liberals claim it is, then there's nobody who could possibly oppose that. And yet, rather than a simple, streamlined, and easily overseen program, they instead want multiple overlapping agencies on the federal and state levels, each dealing with specific groups or circumstances, and each with their own bureaucracies. And then if you ask why, it's like "don't talk to me, child killer!! I'm stopping you from murdering kids!!"
Despite what the right-wing hate machine feeds us, welfare makes up a pittance of the budget.. especially when compared to defense spending.
Oh lookie a leftie trying to justify the thievery. I guess when you are incompetent in providing yourself the basics you got to justify in your mind instead of taking pride in yourself.

Are you kidding me? Welfare is a bigger problem than most realize. Look at all the southern states taking in free money from the productive states in this nation. They're all about handouts. If southern states would learn to be productive on their own, the nation would be in such a better state.

That must be why everyone from New Jersey moves to southern states. They heard that there was welfare there.

Lol. Not a fan of facts, huh? Everyone from New Jersey isn't moving to southern states. A very small percentage of people are... only to take advantage of government subsidies to businesses.

They aren't? Someone had better tell South Carolina and Florida that they're imagining things.
States in the South have high participation in Welfare programs because the South doesn't believe in productivity. It's not the people, but their governments that have lead the states in a horrible direction. They have no interest in being self-sufficient and growing their economy to sustain their people.
California has a much much lower food stamp participation rate. Hardly a "Welfare State" in comparison to the others.
And this statement of "Everyone knows California is a welfare state" as Cookooman is proposing, is a crock of baloney
You seem to not know what percentage participation means. Either that or you think all of the states have equal populations. I can't tell which one.
