I'd like to see a link to that, because too many times I hear people screeching that reductions to increases are cuts. When you plan to increase something by 10% and it only increases by 7%, I don't consider it a cut.

Is this $29. per person? For $116. I could do a family of 4, no problem, and I guarantee you, nobody would be too fat. In fairness though, I have a car, and four fully stocked grocery stores, with a couple of miles, to go to for sales that week.
I will just let the whole Gwyneth Paltrow thing go. I doubt she eats anything anyway. Mario Batali could definitely benefit from a change in diet.

I personally saw him on television say that ketchup was a vegetable. You want to call me a liar? fine, but I remember it to this day, and still lmao thinking about it.

I dont care people want to put it off on someone else, so that his brilliant legacy of 'trickle-down economics' wont be stained (and, yes, the brilliant legacy part is definately sarcasm)

Bill Maher said during his administration, "Trickle-down ecomonics is like being a fat rabbit holding all the carrots, and any that happen to fall you can have."

Well Mario looks like he lives on pasta anyway!!! Gwyneth looks more like the black coffee and cigarette type to me...

Yes.

A few years back I bought a pack of cucumber seeds for $0.50 from wallmart.
Doing nothing but dumping some water on them as I walked by every day resulted in more than I could eat.

I gave away BAGS FULL, had many meals where I ate a cuke and some Italian dressing (good summertime meal or snack) to say nothing of cutting them up on my salads (also home grown)

And then for about $2 worth of jars from the thrift store, and abut the same for the lids, I made pickles for the next year+ in a boiling pot of water.

No telling how much money I saved for almost no effort.

I heard she's going to eat 1000 calories a day, so at least she is doubling her daily intake.

I don't think she really had any intention of making it a full week on those purchases. I read one article that said the total was $24.50 - right there, you have a situation that would never happen if a person truly had only $29 to spend, with no safety net. They'd spend as close to $29 as they could. I actually bought a lot of the same items as she did this past week - dry black beans, brown rice, tortillas, frozen peas, eggs, cilantro, onions, and sweet potatoes. No limes, lol. But because I truly am working on a budget of $125 per week for a family of 5, I also had oatmeal ($2.29 at Aldi, gives you 16 servings), chicken quarters, bananas, ground turkey burger ($1.89/lb @ Aldi), and some pasta.

In that her actions did prompt further discussions of poverty and nutrition, I won't mock her motivations.
