And again, the reported child abduction rate wasn't as high as it is now *because* there was less media coverage then. The real rate is likely comparable.
I don't blame everything on "media coverage." I blame societal ills on humans who create the problems.
You see this more with black kids. The older one watches the younger one. They are also more likely to be working single parents and less likely to be able to afford private sitting.
Hmmmm.....I never thought about it like that. Whites tend to be richer and live in areas without mass transit and are thus impacted more by DUI laws.

You do realize that nearly all pedophiles are preying on their own family members? Kids are SAFER in a public park than at home in the same house as the pedophile to whom they are related!

Also, child welfare did not "care" for the children either, they also kept them for hours without providing food, beverage or bathroom. They should be charged with neglect as well.
I personally would not allow my children to be at the park alone but I don't see it as neglect either.

That's why I leave my kids in a hot car with the windows rolled up. It's safer than leaving them 20 miles out to sea with seal meat and 20lb weights strapped to them.
