I want to slap these people. This is actually a rearing belief. "Free range" like chickens. They sound like lazy parents to me. Why have them if you don't want to take care of them?

Two Maryland children are with their parents again after being held by Child Protective Services (CPS) for hours. This is the third time Danielle and Alexander Meitiv have come under fire for letting their children walk around unsupervised, reports CBS News correspondent Chip Reid. I don't believe in this parenting style but the law is dumb and racist. Parents should be able to judge when their kids can be left alone.

Why is the "law" racist? Please explain. Moderator cut: personal attacks

I don't understand the outrage. I walked all over by myself when I was young, I had to walk almost half a mile just to catch the school bus even in elementary school. Maybe times have changed, but it is appalling to me that government is interfering to this degree for something like this. Kids in cities even now take subways to school, etc.

This seems to have ruffled a few feathers.

You see this more with black kids. The older one watches the younger one. They are also more likely to be working single parents and less likely to be able to afford private sitting.

Well apparently Maryland doesn't want parents to "free range" kids at this age (as they have laws).

This is 2015. I remember when I was young and my big sisters and brothers watched me. That was a very long time ago. Times sure have changed since then. Any fool with a propensity toward violence on children could have had them for the taking. This is the not so safe America we live in now.

I see this as willful child neglect, leaving them unattended. To me its no worse than leaving your kids in a hot car to die.

The law is dumb and likely unconstitutional. It will also impact black mothers at a disproportionate rate.

I disagree. I think they are serously overstepping bounds.
