People are getting tired of idiots with drones. This guy takes action into his own hands. Indignant drown owner says he will go to small claims court over smashed drone.
IMO, if someone flies a drone close enough to someone so they can hit it with a shirt, then they should have every right to take action.
The video shows he walked into the middle of the street and hit the drone. He wasn't close to the drone at first. Then he walks away afterwards. He will likely have to pay for the drone if they take him to court.
They were filming a commercial on a public street, what they were doing was totally legal there was no threat to any one and no cause to destroy the drone.
I'm thinking a court case would end up having the fat guy paying for the damages he caused.
I think they got their commercial. Not so sure about verdict of case, if there is one. However the story says the man claims drone had been flying over his house which he had told them not to do. (apparently more than once)

This is probably good for them financially. The tech community loves getting upset about old out of touch people getting in the way of technology. I'm sure you will come up with some retort but publicity is publicity and this will likely go viral in certain communities and lead to a few more sells. Maybe they goaded him hoping he would react.
Oh I hope they get on Judge Judy! Anyway, that drone was personal property on a public street. The guy who broke it should have to buy that company a new one.
In Huntington Beach, however, it is completely legal to fly drones, as the city is not listed on Orange County's banned or regulated drone lists, according to LAist.
Uh Oh, hope he's getting his check book out.
