Default Computer locker virus masquerading as Windows 10 link

We are seeing the link to download Windows 10 upgrade. But the dreaded ramsomware computer locker virus is also out there masquerading as the link. You et the email, you click the link, and an ever nastier version of the locker virus has taken control of your computer

Please be sure about any link you get about Windows 10

Wait, STOP: Are you installing Windows 10 or ransomware?

I live in a farming community about 60 miles east of San Diego, we only have Verizon out here capped at 5GB, this thing started downloading this morning without my consent how do i stop it or slow it down and slowly load it over 4-6 weeks. Got MS tech support they said all I could do was drive 60 miles to a McDonalds and use their WIFI. Really need help now!

I just switched to "check for updates and let me decide to download and update" That may have worked. I have already learned that there is already prepared 1.1GB patch for win 10 coming 1 October.

From my mentor, Sandy ( a God in the IT world) Never be a pioneer. Pioneers are dead guys with arrows in their backs.

Wise words when dealing with software. Especially from Microsoft.

Again Techeeee thank you, that seems to be working. I rollover my usage tonight, I got about 1.5GB of it downloaded today, will wait till Tuesday and open it up to download more by changing the setting back (if that is how it works) I am getting local complaints that the overage charges are around $1200
