Should have left her in for another week. Jail food gets real old quickly.

Unfortunately all the ultra conservatives are going to parade her around and she will make money off not doing her job. The Muslims and other religious minorities will be lining up to do the same.

Speaking as a Christian who taught Bible class for 9 years, Davis opens herself up for scrutiny when she leans on Pauline New Testament scripture to justify her condemnation of homosexuality while completely ignoring Jesus's New Testament teachings re divorce and remarriage.

It's all kinds of wacky to use scripture to condemn the former but not the latter.

In a nutshell, according to New Testament teaching Davis is choosing, without repentance, to live in an adulterous relationship with her current husband. (Just to be clear, that's not my opinion, I'm good with both divorce and SSM but I've yet to read how she rationalizes the difference.)

I'm betting she doesn't. Very few fundamentalists can explain the contradictions in their belief systems, because they're not very deep thinkers. They don't have the capacity to think it through. All they know is that their preacher told them that Jesus said this and Jesus said that, and hey! Good enough for them! All they need to know.

Just to be clear, Jesus NEVER EVER mentioned much less condemned homosexuality or abortion.
Jesus did however had a lot to say, none of it good, about divorce and remarriage economic stuff.

What business is it of hers who marries? She can discuss and try to control other peoples marriages, yet no one is supposed to discuss hers?

She is the one throwing her beliefs into the ring, she put them out there for all to see, it's fair game.

One thing to speak about her job and performance, we all have things like this we are not in total control of......one would think non-Christians already know this.

Childish is correct!

For some she must qualify for a tramp......
So what business is it of hers interfering with the personal lives of others?

When she was baptized into her new faith, she was reborn. Baptism is a new beginning. She's been washed clean, like the sins never happened.

That's how she rationalizes the difference.

Obviously it's pertinent to any discussion of marriage rights and what the Bible says. Isn't that what Ms. Davis is basing her case on? I believe so - in her own words.

We point out that the Bible (specifically the NT) is very, very clear on what Jesus though about Divorce. So, how can this person in clear violation of the Bible which - try to deny other people the right to marry - who SHE states are in clear violation of the Bible.

You can be forgiven, but that doesn't change who your husband is as far as God is concerned. She's still living in "sin" over and over again until she goes back to her first husband.

Some would agree with you.

But others have a different perspective. Evidently Ms Davis sees her re-birth as a complete change. She is not the same person she was previously. She has, in essence, divorced herself from that previous life. What that previous person did, and what Ms Davis does now, are the products of two separate lives. She doesn't see her rebirth as a new chapter in the book that is her life. She sees the previous life's book is closed and put away. And now she is started on a new book.
