We have 1000 acres.......not all in one place..........and would buy more.
I didn't say land wasn't important but you calculating the cost of land into a single deer or the deer killed over a season is silly. And if you bought 1000 acres with the sole purpose of hunting that's silly IMO. Our 600 acre ranch has 3 large tanks, a log cabin and we spend a lot of time out there fishing, entertaining friends and doing things other than hunting

Our home is on 100 acres..........the rest is just for hunting.
That is my husband main interest............and we can afford it.

And it would be unnecessary, if you buy 1000 acres and then say deer meat cost more than beef I can't take you seriously. If you bought 1000 acres and raised your own cattle how much would,it,cost then? Your cost is you choice

Everything is not about the bottom line.
I was just responding to another poster on the cost.

The cost of shells is a small part of hunting.
When you said it's not cheap at all and cost more than beef what did you mean? Hunting doesn't have to be expensive but your husband probably makes it that way since its his main interest

Sure.......he likes to feed the local deer all winter.
You don't want them to run anywhere. On the 2.5 acres i grew up on my neighbor has claimed about 7 deer over the years and he used a crossbow for each one. We knew each deer that hung out on my place where they bed up and when they showed up and left. WE usually raised about 4 fawns per year on this 2.5 acres. There was a patch of Lillacs surrounding a walnut tree in my font yard and very often there would be 3-r does in it all summer long at certain times of the day. There are thousands of deer to be had on very small plots of ground such as that spit of ground around a house a old guy lives in.
