It's just depends what you think is acceptable abuse -you think society is better served by an adult having the right to walk up to a nine year old on the street and saying just about anything they want, while I don't.
No, the difference is that you want government to handle it for you.

It's not about me or adults, it's about kids.

How do you suggest a nine year old handles it?

How does a nine-year-old handle an insult? I'm pretty sure he just goes home and watches cartoons.

I'd have to see the whole skit. Was it mean-ish comedy like Dice Clay used to do or like Kevin Hart, Seinfeld, Chris Rock, or Russell Peters who make fun of all ethnicities, religions, handicapped people, gays, politicians, but in a funny way and joking with the crowd so you know they don't mean it. Imagine if George Carlin had to pay for offending anyone. You know the words he say back and I'm sure he's glad he passed when he did.

Meanwhile: (A deaf woman is suing Taco Bell over how difficult it was to order food.)

They should have claimed they were blind and demanded that she give them the note in Braille and then sued her for being insensitive and then their lawyers would all be rich and she'd still be deaf and poor with no tacos.

Handle what?
Why would a nine year old need to 'handle' something adults should deal with?
I generally take care of my kids and any adult issues they encounter, since I am their caretaker and responsible for them.

How would a successful lawsuit help a kid 'handle' anything?

You are lost in your emotions here. It is your job to raise your kids, it is not my governments job to protect your feelings with force.

The US is the country where an adult has no power to protect their kids from a form of abuse, unlike Canada, where a parent can use the law as a tool.

In Canada, parents are like "Queen Victoria, send the Royal Mounties! Someone made fun of my son! I live in Saskatoon, next to the mooses!!"

The difference is that some believe personal liberties and responsibility are more important than some people's sensitivity. One deserves protection under the law.
