Wow, just look at all that responsible logging that can take place there!
My comment was not in relation to this specific land, but to maintenance of federal land in general.

But thanks for the courteous education.

Why now? Obama has had eight years to make this designation. If it's such a wonderful thing to do, why wasn't it done 8 years ago? It's my understanding there was a bipartisan solution in Congress that was almost complete.

Perhaps this is just another case of Uncle Sam in Washington DC thinking it knows what is best for Native Americans.

Nope. Public lands belong to people who control them: bureaucrats in Washington DC who have never ventured farther west than Dulles.

In a post before yours, I addressed this very issue. I guess you weren't paying attention. However, the inter-tribal council for the Hopi, Zuni, Navaho, and Ute tribes have all endorsed this monument. Twenty-six Indian tribes have endorsed it as well. Your very article makes these points. Did you read your own article?

Its fringe groups that oppose the Monument designation. Just as we have a presidential election and 5% of voters voted for Gary Johnson and 2% of voters, voted for Jill Stein there will never be absolute unanimity about anything. What is the truth is that vast majority of Indians in the area support the Bears Ears Monument or else the inter-tribal council would not have endorsed it.

Gary Herbert and Utah politicians are finding a few outliers and claiming they speak for the Indian people when they know this is false.

True or false. In America, we elect officials and our officials make decisions for us (including those concerning public lands)?

True or false. Our elected officials pick any bureaucrats, including the Director of the BLM, that carry out those decisions about public lands?
