There was a warrant out for the kid from an incident last year? And law enforcement didn't know where the kid lived to serve it? And law enforcement didn't know the kid was autistic? I don't think we're getting all the facts here. Either that, or that silly Florida curse thing is rearing it's ugly head again.
I have an autistic family member who is about 10 (nephew). Very mild, but he has had outbursts. Violent ones. You wouldn't even know he is autistic talking to him. His parents have worked very hard to get him help and he is doing a lot better. I cant imagine him having been arrested. I know its a fear of his parents. But so far the cops just call an ambulance to take him to the hospital. I feel so bad for the whole family. I cant even imagine how bad they must feel. I know the mom has talked about the schools being very difficult to work with and they keep looking for help through the school system and don't get it.
Anyone who thinks that arresting a 10 year old autistic child and keeping him in jail overnight is reasonable and appropriate is one really sick individual.

call me "sick" , but if a kid gets violent and his mother plays the " autism card, he does not belong in a public school with other kids.
