I look at Youtube because of many of my hobbies and over the years I follow people who had just started and went way up in subscribers and who have success. Of course is many more like my teen DD tells me who try also and do not get anywhere near the success story. Just to mention one Laovaan. German young man who draws manga but at german university Berlin/art school he gets tons of critique from the professor that he do this because to them that is not art.
Besides the videos on YT he sells prints and originals in his Etsy shop he even self publishes a book on art. He was approached by big business but he likes doing his own things.
A lady in UK on Youtube , Jibid Neary makes marvelous journals and sells them very well. She is not young I think mid40 but she also is a success, she has not been long in YT but was a selling crafter before going on YT.
See also Zoella she does makeup/fashion etc vids.A few years ago my teen DD had a high school trip to London ,Zoella was in the shopping mall they visited and some of the kids went to her and she was very nice to them. So I can understand that young people see this as a way to great success.
A good portion of Youtubers that have clout make a lot of money.
The "comedians" youtubers are horrible. Liza Kotsy, Superwoman, etc.
Agreed. I feel if people are going to try and be Youtubers, they should be at least 21 or older. Hopefully, that should wipe out a lot of the immature idiotic content (trolls and all these dumb challenges which make you question some people's IQ level). I wish youtube could be organized better. No more advertisements, no more suggested videos, I do not care about politics or what is mainstream or trending, and no particular channel's popping up after I have blocked them because it's content and the user itself does not interest me.
