I’ve read several news stories about this. Some people think this is a scam to allow reviewers to post positive reviews, using recipient’s identity as a verified purchaser.

Amazon says, “no,” that is not what is happening.

At any rate, people’s identities must be available and out there, detached from Amazon’s customer’s database, which is scary and creepy. It appears to me that there is a breach in Amazon’s data security.

Anyone else have any ideas?
Stoners working in the Amazon warehouse?

And there have been PLENTY of times that we've gotten mail meant for the business down the street, and at home, we get other people's mail often. The USPS isn't the epitomy of accuracy. Not by a long shot.
Sounds like a fish tail to me. I doubt you have that many issues with a USPS carrier.

You're very naive.

Sure, you can leave a review for anything.

But it doesn't count in the ranking of the product. Only verified reviews do. In order to be verified the reviewer must have spent $50 in the last 12 months on Amazon.

A high ranking can potentially make you, the seller, much more money than it costs to ship product to random people in the U.S. This stuff tends to be junk that costs pennies to manufacture.
