Wow. I didn't expect that.
I wish for peace for Natalee's parents, although I don't think this will bring it. And he's not being charged with her disappearance, these charges are related to extortion.
His prison in US will be so much better than in Peru.
Bet he would love it.More rights too - which I am sure he would use with abandon.
He maybe even be out on parole
I would let him rot in Peru:convicted in 2012, given 28 years plus a later add-on for drugs.
The Holloway then could get him to stand the trial here. In 2045
How much is he going to get for extortion? Not much.
So why make it easier on him?
It is a burden on taxpayers too.
He murdered the girl in Peru and confessed as the evidence was overwhelming.
We are not even sure he actually killed Natalie; perhaps left her drugged out on the beach and she drowned?
Extortion isn’t the same as murder - if convicted - the parole is certainly not out of the question

It says the Peru extradited him only temporarily - to stand trial. Then he allegedly must return to Peru to serve the rest of his murder sentence in full.
US wanted the trial as the extortion and wire fraud witnesses are “elderly”.
Not sure what the point of trial in the US - how much the sentence for wire fraud if convicted? Is it after he serves in Peru?
So, it is a vacation in US for that POS

They want to know where her body is. I'm sure Natalee's family would advocate for a plea bargain, that his sentence be greatly reduced if he'd just say where her remains are, and admit he killed her. I'm not sure he knows.
The family was willing to pay. He just defaulted on the lucrative deal at the point where he'd have to reveal her whereabouts. Indicating he doesn't know.
Agreeing with look4ward, let him rot in Peru. This will be like a vacation for him, & he doesn't deserve it
Agreed. Let this murderous sociopath rot in Peru. I'm sorry about the young woman in Peru, but it shows that Van der Sloot was likely directly - and at least indirectly - responsible for Natalee's death. I live in Alabama. Just the thought of that creep being here sickens me, but Beth Holloway and Natalee's father deserve their day in court. I hope something productive will come of it.
