"The family has a possible lead involving a gray vehicle that a trucker saw pulling in front of Carlee’s car while they were passing along the interstate."
That's far fetched - that car didn't stop or park near her. It probably just pulled in front of Carlee’s car while they were passing along the interstate."
Maybe someone did, wanting to help, then changed their mind.
It's pitch dark, colors are not accurate. Several cars pulled in front of her after they passed along her slowing down car with the flashers.
Unless they actually know someone with a grey car, I don't see the connection.
There is a video I can't share due to it being on a competing platform where someone has zoomed in and slowed it down. You can't make out much more, but you definitely don't see anything or anyone else.
I wonder if she could have pulled over and picked up the child, put him/her into her back seat and drove for a little bit with her hazards on because the child was not in a safety seat and then decided to pull over to call 911 and her family member.
She didn't say anything on the phone call about another car pulling over so that report may not be accurate or she and the toddler may already have been taken by the time the gray car stopped.
This is what a local reporter just wrote on Twitter about that 3 minutes ago:

Regarding the Red Roof Inn social media activity in the #CarleeRussell search, can confirm there is no significant police/search activity at that business at this time.
Small city, after 9 PM.... Probably not many, if any...
It happened on I-459, a loop around the south side of Birmingham. Hoover is a Birmingham suburb, so it's not really a small city. Part of 459, after it leaves I-20/59 and goes east, is rural but the place in question is in an urbanized area near I-65, so the highway is pretty well traveled. It was fairly late, 9:30 or 10:00, so not rush hour levels, but still not zero traffic either.
