check a map---I am sure there are other surface streets that are not toll roads...you will just have to deal with lights, school zone which will probably show you down...
drive it for a week on regular streets
after that you will probably be willing to pay for at least one way in tolls

OP, are you serious? After all that time you spent locating and pricing an uptown apartment, the commute never entered your mind?

haha I knew this commute existed... this was just a way for me to rant about it and hopefully have someone with a secret route they use.... but mostly rant

Guess it's better than my old commute a month ago from Fort Worth that was $3.50 a day AND an hour and fifteen minutes in traffic.

Now it's $5.92 a day and about 20-25 minutes.

Well since you reverse commute, why not take 75 North to Bush Turnpike West to DNT North to get to work?

You'd still hit the tolls from DNT/Bush to your exit, but instead of paying for tolls on the rest of DNT, for your trip on Bush Turnpike you'll pay $1.00 each way.

I think you'd end up saving money and since you are reverse commuting, traffic isn't an issue.

I'll try 75 on the way to work tomorrow...

I know taking that route on the way home is awful.

Hillcrest is surprisingly fast. Preston bogs at LBJ. Midway bogs. Write the tolls off on your taxes?
