Looking at a small farmette there, want good schools, not too far from hubby's work (we already know how far it is). Just wondering what you locals can tell me about the area, access to cool/useful stuff within a 15-20 mile area, and town personality?

Thanks

(we're moving from Maryland as soon as we sell our farmette here, can't get out there just yet to drive around the area; hubby already went out once and saw some houses in our preferred areas, just not here))

Welcome, eventually.

Gunter is up and coming as is anything north of Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Prosper, even up to Lake Texoma, which an improved Hwy 289 now serves. Also the Tollway will eventually get up here. Land might already be higher priced in anticipation of the growth in the next 10-20 years. Schools are great that I hear.

It will be a good investment for you.

Above average schools for a rural area. It's quite the hike into Dallas. The people I know who live there all work in Sherman.

If your price range is $240,000 plus check out Prosper. Gunter is about 15 minutes north of Prosper and pretty rural. If that is what you are looking for ,it is still reasonably priced.

OP asked for a "farmette" presumably enough acreage to grow crops or have farm animals. That available in Prosper?

Realtors are welcome here but do see our Realtor Advice to avoid infractions.

probably, but might be off the beaten path and expensive

realtor.com and use their search features

check out Grayson county too, just north of Prosper. Cheaper land. We love it up here.
