And it's so worth it IMO. Just yesterday my son and I had a 30 minutes long toss and extended conversation in the front yard. I can't place a value on that.

Try mowing 5 acres in 101 degree August heat. No thanks. BTDT.

You can still play catch and have conversations in a normal sized lot.

I think once you get up in the 1+ acres...you hire professionals for the mowing and gardening..but perhaps that isn't the norm. We have 1.5 acres...and my hubby pondered the idea of getting a manly mans mower with a cold one on the side....that faded real quickly..when we looked at a new mower...vs..lawn service...vs more time with the kids on the lawn....LOLOLOL. The choice ended in one trip to home depot and sears!!!

I wouldn't do anything over an acre now..but .5 is just about right..or perhaps smaller..but on a greenbelt, golfcourse....just an open view of some greenery or lakes is nice...

I agree. I've lived in a huge country ranch and it lost its novelty fairly quickly. A .25-.5 acre with a nice view is a perfect formula for me. A nice view in backard can make you forget that you live in a suburban cement jungle to have life's necessities nearby.

We mowed our 5 acres with a tractor. It took 3 hours! No lawn service out in the country!

We specifically requested for close to a half acre. Yes, it screened out many candidates, and we could've purchased a bigger/newer/nicer house if we didn't...but for us, it was worth it.

The Asian population in Sunnyvale (at the schools) is mostly Indian with a moderate percent of those from the State of Kerala (via Mesquite/Garland as several families orginally moved in the 80s/90s). We have a (surprisingly) moderate portion of Eastern Orthodox Indian Christians as well. There are few muslim families - and since we're such a small community when I say "few" I could say 12 (but it might be 15 or 16). There are a few Chinese/Korean families, but the ones I know just recently moved from California.

The new lots in Stoney Creek have good sizes - I think I heard between 0.3 and 0.7 acres, so they are a little more spaced out. They just opened a new phase in the past month or so.
