Lakewood named "Master School"

Lakewood-Now.net - Dallas Texas - online community newspaper (http://lakewood-now.net/view/article/2048?page=1 - broken link)

Lakewood Elementary received a new accolade from Dallas ISD in December. Based on student achievement and continued success in education, Lakewood was named a "Master School."

DISD also awarded Lakewood $10,000 to use for the school as part of this distinction. The school administration and staff are looking into several possible ways to effectively use the funds.

Lakewood personnel also learned at the first of December that they were officially nominated for the prestigious national No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Award...

I don't think you understand Lakewooder -- the only good public schools are in Frisco, Prosper, and Oklahoma.

A DISD school winning an award for academic excellence? Whatever! It's a lie. The only award students in the DISD achieve are: (1) for their drive-by marksmanship; or (2) selling the most drugs to 7 year-olds. It's in a book at the Allen-McKinney-Murphy Library. Look it up!

It's a scientific fact that the closer you get to Oklahoma, the better the schools are. I'm sorry. That's just the way it is.

Your story must be wrong. "Frisco, Frisco, Frisco" are the only words my Realtor knows. So she must be right.

Just think how awesome this forum would be if everyone posted a new thread for each minor accomplishment/news item that occurred at their local school.

Default How to Speak CoCo in 60 Days or Less

Yes, even YOU can speak the language of Collin County (also known as California East) in less than 60 days! The following is just a sample of what you will learn:

Blind Californian No. 1: "Frisco, Frisco, Frisco"

Relocating Californian No. 2 "Frisco?"

Misinformed Californian No. 3: "FRISCO!"

Yes, it's just that easy! You'll learn that any place with character, trees, and non-chain restaurants cannot be trusted! Schools in Dallas can't compete with FRISCO! Additionally, home appreciation is a thing of the past. When your house gets dirty, just buy that new one across the street. There is so little to learn in so much time! Act NOW! There are only 50,000 red brick homes left in each subdivision! Who needs a downtown! Let's live on the highways.

FRISCO!

Tried to give ya some rep but it says I have to "spread it around". GOOD POST!!!! LOVE IT!!!!

You might also add:
The ability to grow one VERY long fingernail.
The ability to walk in pants that the waist fits around your knees or lower.
TAKS......... what TAKS? Only tacks in DISD schools are the ones put in teachers chairs.
Girls w/ the most kids w/ more than one father by 15 are considered popular
Boys by the age of 15 that have "fathered" at least 5 kids all w/ different "mothers" are most popular
Yearbook Pics........ no way. Mug shots are MUCH better
Diamond braclets are out - handcuffs are in

I'm surprised that people in Frisco even know how to say the word "Dallas"

Yes, even YOU can speak the language of Lakewood (also known as Frisco South) in less than 60 days! The following is just a sample of what you will learn:

Lakewooder: "Lakewood, Lakewood, Lakewood"

Everyone else in the area who couldn't care less "Lakewood?"

hamiltonpl: "LAKEWOOD!"

Yes, it's just that easy! You'll learn: "old = good, new = bad", how to move a family of 6 into a 1200sf bungalow, musicals are fun! Also, suburban living sucks! Let's all cram into an uptown highrise - after all, we all work downtown, right? Don't forget, only in LAKEWOOD can you have a neighborhood feel. Plus, you know we have the top 2 schools in the country (according to some magazine) - as long as your kids are extremely gifted (aren't they all?). There is so little to learn in so much time! Act NOW! Who needs a metropolitan area or job growth, let's all live in LAKEWOOD!
