My father was the head bartender at the Players Lounge for 17 years, until his death. My mother was a door-girl in the 70's. I knew your uncle. His office was in front of the Ladies bathroom and his desk faced the lady's bathroom door. The daytime bartender was Ruth and she lived in a house right in back of the club. I grew up in that place. Ruth used to make me rings out of dollar bills. I wish I had a picture of that place. I went back a few years ago, to take some, but it was run down. So many memories...

As a rule, in Dallas/Ft. Worth none of the establishment names were possessive. It was Confetti, Tango, Monopoly, Acapulco.... The exceptions were TGI Friday's, Bennigan's, Houlihan's, etc. but those were nat. chains and don't count.

I believe the place was called Joe Willy's. I totally forgot about that place. I remember driving past it on our way to see friends who lived up in Stonebriar. I believe the restaurant moved to Rockwall after closing their Plano location.

I just stumbled upon this thread. I worked at the following "hot spots" during 1975-1980 in Dallas: Mariano's, Diamond Jim's & Elan. WONDERFUL nightclubs. I left Dallas in 1980 to move to Houston to open Confetti there. Anyone who'd like info about those glorious old days at those clubs, please do contact me at sonesta@nol.net.

And if you worked there during that time, I was Becky Wilson. Get in touch. Those were great days.

Wink Great Memories! Disco was it!

Just remembering #3 Lift,, Red Dog saloon, Bellring, Bachelors, Beggars,, The Old Theatre all in that area. Lived across the street from the Red Dog in those apartments off Starlight Road, if anyone else did they had the sunken living rooms, so cool!
