I walked four miles yesterday. It was hot but didn't seem as bad as before the rains.

you might spontaneously combust if you stay outside too long.

Thankfully I was up on the lower mountain fork river in southeast Oklahoma this past weekend and the water was in the 60's which felt great.

It's hell out there. Bet that winter snow is seeming awfully pleasant right about now.

It was 108 today, one degree from tying the historical record. I keep thinking it has to get better soon, but it only seems to get worse.

North Texas made it to 24 straight days of temperatures over 100 with ease.

On Monday, the high, so far, is 106. With that, we are now tied for No. 4 on the list of most consecutive days of triple-digit heat.

If we go above 99 Tuesday, we'll be tied for No. 3 on the list. If we go above 100 through Saturday we'll tie for No.2 on the list.

Here is a run down of the Top 10 stretches of 100-plus heat.
1. 42 days -- June 23 - Aug. 3, 1980
2. 29 days -- July 6 - Aug. 3, 1998
3. 25 days -- Aug. 2-26, 1952
4. 24 days -- July 2-25, 2011 (Tie 4. 24 days -- July 28 - Aug. 20, 1999)
6. 20 days -- July 9-28, 1954
7. 19 days -- Aug. 8-26, 2006
8. 18 days -- July 31 - Aug. 17, 2010 (Tie 8. 18 days -- July 2-19, 1978)
10. 17 days -- Aug. 2-18, 1956

I remember that year. I lived in an apartment in Grand Prairie. The A/C was out for five days in the entire complex. My wife was expecting our first child, SHE was more miserable than I was.
Luckly her parents lived in Waxahachie and she stayed with them until the airconditioning was fixed.

It's hot this summer in fact we broke a record here in the panhandle recently of 111 degrees. But I've yet to go through another summer like the one in 1980.
