I realize this is a vague description but we are starting from ground zero here... Ideally we would like a newer area that is safe with outdoor spaces like parks, dog parks, swimming pools. We would also like to be a reasonable (no more than 20 mins or so) from shopping, restaraunts etc.....We are kinda hoping to find a rental that is not a cookie cutter looking apartment. Maybe a townhouse, or home or even an apartment just not some generic looking huge complex. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!
there are lots of areas that would fit your life style. I guess I would suggest McKinny, Flower Mound, Grapevine for starters. I am sure there are others.

Of course Dallas itself would be fun, but it certainly isn't new, this goes for Richardson as well, so you will want to stay west or north probably. Of course your housing budget is a consideration as well.

I agree except she also wants new and there isn't that much new in those areas.

FarNoDallas has the right idea. By the way, not everything is cookie cutter in Grapevine/Flower Mound area. Of course newer will be this way somewhat, but these areas have so much to offer.

fr Dallas. Rowlett is on Lake Ray Hubbard and very nice.
Good luck
I also live in Rowlett and really like it. I think we are going to move closer to Dallas because my husband's new job is going to require us be closer. However, we have loved Rowlett. We are renting out our house in Waterview and super great area. Need a 4bed/3.5 bath?

Coppell is nice too, I'm staying in one of the apartment there with less then 10 mins drive to DFW. Also it is quiet and restaurants are just 2 mins drive from my area.

In Dallas we have a lot of new construction. Perhaps you have not visited in some time. And most of it is not cookie cutter. A lot of times people who are unfamiliar with Dallas say 'suburb' not realizing that most of Dallas has been developed in a fairly suburban manner.

I've never heard anyone complaining that White Rock Lake smells...and I've been around it for oh about 50 years. And I know folks who have been around it a few decades longer...

I would recommend Richardson, Addison, and Plano as well. They have some nicer upscale apartments and are centrally located. If you want to live closer to DFW Airport, stay closer to Las Calinas and Irving.
