Hey guys!! My boyfriend and I will be relocating back to DFW in April. I have a job possibility in Denton and he will be starting his teaching certification in Irving.

We are in our mid-20s, no kids, and we like to hang out at restaurants, bars, go to movies, etc. Where's a good place to live that fits our needs and keeps both of our commutes relatively short?

Also, we'll be renting and would like to keep our range between $700-900 for a 1 or 2 bedroom.

Thanks!

There's a couple of apartment complexes in Lewisville / Flower Mound.

I lived at Hidden Creek for a few years, in Lewisville. No problems.

Why do you keep promoting Addison?

My husband and I live in Coppell. He works in Denton and even though it is only 19 miles it takes him anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour with traffic however he works nights so that could be a factor. If you are working "normal" day hours, you would probably not have much of an issue I would think since you are going against traffic. Coppell is pretty safe and quite but is not much in the way of bars, etc. You aren't far at all from restaurants, the mall, several movie theaters and some bars though in Lewisville.

I can see why the pp suggested Addison but I think it would be a little far imo. Lewisville probably would be your best bet.

Thanks everyone for your responses!

TXTOAL- Has your husband ever tried riding the commuter bus that stops in Lewisville (by Vista Ridge)? I heard that it stops there and goes directly to UNT. I was considering doing this and looked at the timetable. It says that it takes approx. 30 minutes to get to Denton from Vista Ridge. This doesn’t sound like a long time at all.

Has anyone else taken this bus to UNT?

I'd agree, Addison might be a good location for drinking, dining and getting out. Gives you access to I35 to Denton and 161/114 to Irving. And the toll road into downtown.

An alternative might be something in the North Lake to Las Colinas area.

I like Lewisville and even Carrollton for renting. There are some nicer newer apartments around Vista Ridge Mall. They may be a Little too high but shop around. Even Carrollton has some nice areas.

Driving up to Denton every day from Addison?

That would suck.

Lewisville / Flower Mound is the best solution. It's easy to get to Denton, and Irving is just down 2499 and then 114.
