You should check out Little Elm--from what I hear the schools are pretty good and the prices aren't bad

You mentioned Plano and Frisco, and you can get and acre or 2 of land pretty much anywhere. What price range are you wanting to stay within? How long of a commute would be acceptable to your husband and what part of Dallas would he be working because it's very spread out.

Knowing those things would help direct you better.

Price range: preferably no more then $175/180K, but up to $200K
Commute: preferably 30-40 min drive, but no longer then 1 hr
Location: The office should be right in the Historic District area

Another question: anyone know the property tax % in Plano, Frisco, and Royse City?

Thanks everyone, again, for the responses!

Hmm, well, I don't think you are going to be able to find acreage AND a house (or at least a decent house) on your budget. If you do, I will be shocked.

Historic District...you mean West End?

Plano is 2.14
Frisco in Collin county is 2.18
Frisco in Denton county is 2.10
Royse City is 2.50 but a lot of properties are not within the city limits and the tax rate there would be 1.80

Well, we found a 2004 ,4 bed/2.5 bath 2K+ sq ft house on about an acre and half for around $184K in Royse City...but yes, otherwise, besides that house, we only saw 2 others unfortunately.

It looks like you've looked around a bit. Other than Royse City, there is always a home and here that pop that is a great value. There is one right now in Sachse, one in Lucas, they may be older or need some elbow grease. If you explore Cedar Hill and Desoto, you will run into a couple too.
