Hello, I'm hoping to move to the Dayton area this summer. I currently live in Alaska, and I'm trying to do a cost comparison. I'm looking for the average cost of utilities for a 2 bedroom house. Electric, water/ sewer, internet, phones, heating fuel?, and security systems.

Thank you!

A lot depends on how much you use and then there are fees and taxes.

I have electric and water/sewage all on the same bill from the city of Lebanon. It’s never over $100/month unless it’s the summer and we use the air conditioning. Rate is 6 1/4¢ per kWh.

Gas is through duke energy and it’s for the water heater and furnace, low in summer is $45/month and about $120/month in the winter. Our range is electric but some homes use gas.

I have never seen anyone use heating oil in Ohio, more used to seeing that in Maine.

TV, phone and internet is through Spectrum, cheap for 12 months and increased to $190/month.

Thank you, that is exactly what I needed. I didn't think Ohio would use fuel/ oil for heat, but I wasn't sure what the local equivalent was.

A couple of hundred a month should do you for most places. You also need to look at windows and insulation, and what temp you like your house to be at.

Heating oil is still used by some folks out in the country. If you are living in a city, it shouldn't be an issue.
