Never been in Dover, but violent crime in Dover is 5 (1-10 [10 being the worst] and property crime is a 2.

On paper, it looks like Dover is safer.

I'm really surprised. Why do you think smyrna is a high crime risk?

We have a ton of broken down trailer parks around the dover area and I would think the crime would be higher.

There are surrounding towns that wouldnt' be bad if you are fearfull.

You could always rent a place in Dover, Camden, Wyoming or Magnolia which is about 10 mins from smyrna.

My quotes ARE from City-data.

Hate to say it, but the lack of formal education and population numbers of people say it all.

Pick any city in America and you'll find out that they go both hand in hand.

Well this is soon to change. The communities are springing up like crazy in smyrna. Beautiful homes and amenties. Looks like the educated is going to out do the uneducated.
There are quite a few people that I know who are moving to smyrna. BTW........have you stopped in their rest area. One of the nicest I have seen.

Unfort not. We haven't been down there in over 2 years. I forgot the name of the 55+ we looked at, but decided against it as it didn't have a pool and only a very small clubhouse.

We did like the small town look and local stores for shopping.

I would hardly call you an expert on smyrna since you have not been there in 2 years.
We had visited 2 years ago and there was not much but it has grown since then and is continuing to grow.

I think the 55+ community you are referring to is Bon Ayre. No pool and not much of a club house. We almost bought there but decided it was NOT what we wanted.
Since then, there have been several other communities that have spung up and are quite attractive.
